Causative factors can be put down to anything from genetics, dietary, illness, medication, stress, hormonal to bad hair care (very common).
Hair normally contains moisture, if your hair's moisture level is reduced, it decreases the hair's ability to attract and retain moisture. If the sebaceous glands at the roots of the hair (which are responsible for nourishing the hair and help to make it look healthy) do not produce enough natural oil, then, this lack of oil can cause dry and dull looking hair.
Bad hair care, incorrect use of products, chemical processes such as perming and colouring can cause your hair to become fragile, dry, dull and lifeless. Constant use of blow dryers, hot tongs/brushes, straightening irons, harsh brushing, styling products, swimming, strong sunlight, wind and central heating can all add to the problem causing your hair to dehydrate.
Many suffer from having extremely dry hair or frizzy hair, which in turn can cause hair damage. Whether your dry frizzy locks are caused by weather, heat sources, or lack of natural oils; there are ways to remedy dry hair. Everyone has bad hair days, but with dry hair you may have those days more often than not.
What can we do for you?
Dry hair is the most fragile type of hair and is subject to breakage, so it must be handled with care. Avoid any pulling or yanking on your hair in any way, which strains the hair shafts, also environmental influences like wind, sun, and water with salt or chlorine will help in reducing dry hair. Wearing a scarf or hat when out in the sun or wind will also help protect your hair. Strawlike hair needs serious conditioning.
Conditioning is the key to helping to get rid of dry hair and as much as possible let your hair dry naturally, rather than blow drying or hot tongs etc.
The rule is, always condition hair that is dry.
Dry Dull Lifeless Hair is not a condition to be taken lightly as it is often quite embarrassing, as it can often look ragged and unruly and just doesn't make you feel good about yourself. You feel shabby and untidy and this can in turn affect your self-esteem and confidence.
You are not alone and that is the most important thing to remember, this is a more common condition than you may think.
However, we understand your concerns and would like to reassure you that in most cases of Dry Dull Lifeless Hair that we have treated, we have had wonderful results!
Emphasis is on condition it as soon as possible and regularly, 'better late than never'.
